NJPR is dedicated to fostering quality coding and documentation by offering coding education and mentoring programs.
NJPR offers a range of programs and educational content for the novice to the seasoned medical coder. Time is dedicated to navigating the intricacies of code assignment, coding guidelines and external factors affecting code assignment.
Our ICD-10-CM/PCS education encompasses advanced, specialty-specific, and targeted/focused topics. NJPR educational content is overseen, prepared and presented by AHIMA Approved ICD-10 trainers with CCS certification. We strive to bring convenient and cost effective educational opportunities to the coding community.
All of our educational content including customized topics can be scheduled at a convenient time for the department.

NJPR Mentoring Program
Our mentoring program offers coders, clinical documentation improvement (CDI) professionals, ancillary staff, physicians and office personnel the opportunity for one-on-one communication with experienced coding professionals. This program can focus on specific topics or can provide a general review of coding guidelines and coding conventions. Please contact us for specifics on the mentoring program.
Webinars
Annual ICD10-CM/PCS Updates
Provides coders with the CMS annual updates and changes to the CM/PCS codes effective October 1st. This update is offered as two separate programs. The CM portion and the PCS portion.
The CM portion, for both Inpatient and Outpatient staff, include diagnosis code additions, revisions and deletions, changes to the CM guidelines, and updated MCC and CC lists. The PCS portion, usually reserved for Inpatient staff, consists of procedure codes additions, revisions and deletions, updates to the PCS guidelines, and new technology information.
The webinar duration is dependent on the number of changes, but typically from 2-4 hours.
Annual CPT Updates
Provides coders with the annual updates from the AMA effective January 1st. This session is comprised of CPT surgical and medical code additions, revisions and deletions, and changes to the guidelines. The E/M breakout piece offers specific changes to the evaluation and management section. HCPCS category II and III codes are available also.
CPT webinar duration dependent on number of changes but typically 1-3 hours.
Review of Principal Diagnosis Selection
A one hour webinar focusing specifically on selection of principal diagnosis, coding convention and chapter specific guidelines. This review serves to reinforce key areas for experienced coders and is a helpful tool for new and coders with less experience.
